December 12, 2023 – Buffalo, New York, USA – Derrick^® Corporation is partnering with Rungta Steel^®, one of India’s leading and fastest-growing integrated steel manufacturers, marking a significant step in its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The company will implement Derrick’s state-of-the-art SuperStack^®technology in its iron ore beneficiation projects in Odisha, India.

Rungta Steel is embarking on a visionary endeavor to establish iron ore beneficiation plants in Odisha, capable of producing 3.6 MTPA high grade iron ore concentrate. Additionally, it plans to improve two existing 1.3 MTPA plants by incorporating Derrick’s high-capacity, high-efficiency fine screening technology into currently operating circuits to sustainably maximize resource efficiency.

Buffalo-based Derrick Corporation’s global footprint is expanding with the opening of a new Australian office – Derrick Australia Pty Ltd – focused on serving the Australian, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea markets with distribution for our Mining & Industrial, Oil & Gas, and Civil Construction product lines.

Under recently appointed General Manager Garth Hay, Derrick Australia Pty Ltd will distribute products directly to market and provide support to our customers in the region.

Garth is a mining professional with senior management and leadership experience within Australia and Asia. Working off his background in mechanical engineering, Garth began his processing career at BHP’s Mt Whaleback mine before moving abroad to work more closely with vibrating screens at Freeport’s Grasberg mine in Indonesia. He grew into more senior sales and business development roles with Metso in APAC before moving into a Global Managerial position with FLSmidth. He joins Derrick this year, excited by the growth opportunities for the company in the Australasia market.

Derrick^® Opens New Office in Turkey – Appoints Arabacilar Regional Sales Manager, Mining & Industrial

August 17, 2022 – Buffalo, New York. Derrick^® Corporation announced today the appointment of Berkan Arabacilar as Regional Sales Manager – Turkey, Mining & Industrial Division. He is based in Ankara, Turkey, the company’s newest location.

Berkan has served in a variety of mineral processing plants including covered coal washing, industrial minerals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, precious metals, as well as oil and gas mud cleaner applications.

Before joining Derrick Corporation, Berkan was employed as Product Application Engineer at MTM Makina, where he was responsible for all sales activities. His responsibilities frequently required collaboration with Derrick on many screening applications. He also headed MTM’s precious metals division, where he played a critical role in the company’s ongoing new business development activities. During his tenure at MTM, Berkan also held a variety of positions including sales management of Composit LLC/Russia, Bradley Pulverizer / UK, Mhwirth / Germany and Howden / France.

Derrick’s VP of Mining & Industrial Division Concludes South Africa Trip with Eyes Toward the Future

February 16, 2022 – Buffalo, New York. The Vice President of Derrick Corporation’s Mining & Industrial Division, Sam Palombo, has returned from his week-long visit to South Africa excited about Derrick’s presence in the future of African mining as a whole. Palombo met with the local Derrick team to discuss personnel development, plans for business expansion and short-term growth opportunities, as well as to lay the foundations for a long-term success strategy in the region.

Among the week’s activities, Derrick’s regional sales partners came together to look toward the future during a Representatives conference. The partners shared the newest developments in their territories and discussed the overall forecast for the remainder of 2022. “I am very excited about our mining business in Africa,” said Palombo. He adds, “Our project opportunity pipeline has never been healthier with significant order intake forecasted in 2022. We are well positioned for growth.”

As the world continues to slowly open up again, Derrick is seeing an acceleration in the mining division. At the conclusion of his trip, Palombo got a firsthand look at one of the most recent Derrick SuperStack^® installations at the Kropz Phosphate Mine near Cape Town. “The four SuperStacks offer an elegant and cost-optimized solution to increasing the throughput of the milling circuit, and the top size presentation to the ﬂotation circuit,” said Chief Operating Officer of Kropz Phosphate, Michelle Lawrence. The visit to the mine concluded with a meeting with Lawrence to discuss new project opportunities and potential expansions.

Seventh Consecutive contract awarded to Derrick^®

In March of 2021, Archer Limited (Archer) again awarded Derrick and their distributor, Rotor Offshore, a shale shaker upgrade for an Equinor platform rig. This contract is four Dual Pool^® 626 Vapor Extraction (VE) shale shakers for Equinor’s Visund platform located in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea. Due to spacing constrictions on the rig, the shakers required customization and Derrick’s engineering team was able to adapt their standard design for the project. This is the seventh shaker upgrade with Dual Pool 626 shaker on Equinor platform rigs. It also marks the third offshore rig upgrade in Norway that our Distributor partner, Rotor Offshore, has won since joining the Derrick team in 2019. Delivery is scheduled for September 2021 following a witnessed FAT.

Previous contract awards for Dual Pool 626 shakers include Norway platform rigs Statfjord A, B, and C; Grane; and Njord A as well as Peregrino A located offshore Brazil.
