DERRICK® LAUNCHING SUPERSTACK® TECHNOLOGY AT VALE IN BRAZIL
May 6, 2020 – Buffalo, New York. Derrick® Corporation continues the introduction of its new SuperStack® high frequency vibratory screening machine to Vale’s Carajás beneficiation plant in the Para state of Brazil. Vale is one of the largest global producers of iron ore. The 8-deck SuperStack offers a significantly higher production capacity in a smaller footprint than conventional screening equipment, while also offering increased quality of iron ore concentrate.
The SuperStacks will be installed at the Gelado project, transforming tailings into concentrate product. By using SuperStack screens, this new installation will add 10 MTPA of high-grade Fe (Direct Reduction) pellet feed with a significant reduction in production costs to the Carajás complex. The start-up is expected to be in the second half of 2021.
Vale currently operates over 170 Derrick Stack Sizer® machines in six (6) of their Brazilian iron ore concentration plants. Derrick’s SuperStack offers advantages of economies of scale and helped to prompt Vale in making the decision to adopt this new technology.
