Derrick® Technical Paper Highlights Screen Success

July 21, 2015 – Buffalo, NY. Derrick Corporation (Derrick®), a global provider of vibratory fine screening equipment, has announced Laercio Albuquerque, sales manager, Latin America will be presenting a technical paper at the International Comminution and Classification Congress (ICCC) 2015 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, August 11, 2015.

The paper titled “Productivity and Recovery Improvements by Closing Grinding Circuits with Derrick Stack Sizer® Screens” was authored by Albuquerque along with Amit Jain, senior application manager; Steve Valine, president, Separation Technology Group; and Baojie Zhang, product application manager.

The paper will discuss how advances in technology have made it practical to close grinding circuits entirely with screens instead of or in combination with conventional hydrocyclones, enabling operators to benefit from improved grinding efficiency, higher production rates, negligible overgrinding, and a better particle size distribution for downstream processing. The paper will also highlight recent success stories of screen classification in various ore beneficiation plants.

“We are excited to share our technology at this congress. Mexico is one of the most important mining countries in the Americas and a very popular country for mining investments,” said Albuquerque. “We see similarities between Mexico’s mining industry and other countries where companies have experienced great success with the use of our technology. Many companies in Peru, for example, have already replaced hydrocyclones with Derrick technology and are realizing positive results.”

Brazil is another country where companies are successfully replacing hydrocyclones with Derrick screens. To highlight a recent success, Juliana de Souza Siqueira, Universidade Federal De Minas Gerais, will present a technical paper titled “Increasing Grinding Feed Rate With the Use of High Frequency Screens as Classifier Equipment.” Her paper outlines the success experienced using Derrick high frequency screens to close the grinding circuit at Votorantim Vazante in Brazil.

Derrick Corporation will also have a stand as part of the exhibition. Attendees are encouraged to visit the stand to discuss how the company can save them money by closing their grinding circuit with Derrick Stack Sizer screens.
