ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (Formerly Essar) introduces Derrick® SuperStack in Dabuna Iron ORE beneficiation plant
October 29, 2020 – Buffalo, New York. Derrick® Corporation introduces its new SuperStack® high frequency vibratory screening machine to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s (AM/NS) Dabuna beneficiation plant in Odisha, India. AM/NS is a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel and has taken over Essar steel operations in India. AM/NS India is the leading integrated flat carbon steel producer, with an achievable capacity of around 8.5 million tonnes per annum.
Ten (10) SuperStacks will replace cyclones in the grinding circuit at the Dabuna plant to offer a significantly higher production capacity in a smaller footprint than conventional screening equipment, and provide increased quality of iron ore concentrate.
Dabuna plant generates pellet grade fines which are pumped to Paradeep pellet plant through 253 Km long slurry pipeline. SuperStacks will provide better control over coarse and ultrafine sizes to meet required pipeline design parameters. By using SuperStack screens, Dabuna plant will be able to increase plant capacity, protect pipeline and obtain higher pellet quality by significantly reducing slimes (10 micron). The start-up is expected to take place in the second half of 2021.
This will be the first Derrick SuperStack installation in India and with ArcelorMIttal & Nippon Steel worldwide. Derrick’s SuperStack offers advantages of economies of scale which helped AM/NS make a prompt decision to adopt this new technology.
